The Future is Now: Using PDA Technology in the Classroom

My project The Future is Now  was chosen for this section because it demonstrates my strength in continuing to develop personal and professional fundamental skills. This project was created for Dr. Rafaill’s EDU 542: Classroom Applications of Technology class. Dr. Rafaill asked us to create a PowerPoint presentation that demonstrated our ability to use the program. I had used PowerPoint many times in the past to create presentations for professional development. I also used PowerPoint as I presented in several conferences. Before I entered EDU 542 and considered myself proficient in its application. So, when we got the assignment sheet I assumed I would have no problem with the project. Yet Dr. Rafaill asked us to demonstrate some applications that I had never knew existed in the program. Patiently he taught me some tips and tools to make my PowerPoint presentations better.  I was reminded of the importance of continuing my personal growth. I admitted I did not know everything about PowerPoint and to recognize the importance of life-long learning. I now adhere to all the generally accepted rules of using PowerPoint that I was unaware of prior to his class and now I pass that knowledge on to my students.

The PowerPoint I prepared was a presentation I later made to some educators that asked me to inform them on the differences between the Palm and Pocket PC Operating System for a Personal Digital Assistant and to share with them how they work in a school.  In preparing for the presentation I continued my professional growth as I wanted to share information that was interesting and worthwhile. The entire process of creating this project helped me grow personally and professionally. View The Future is Now: Using PDA Technology in the Classroom
