Reflective
Practice
One
of the best things I thought about taking classes in a
Master’s program is that you get to talk with other teachers
from other schools. I always find that talking to those other
teachers was sometimes just as educational as the lesson the
professor was teaching. Talking to other teachers is a
practice that educators just do not get to do enough. We do
not talk to the teachers from other schools, or even our own
building for that matter, to reflect and discuss what is going
on in our schools and with our students. And it is only when
we reflect that we really see what changes are needed and ways
to make our instruction more effective. Unfortunately, many
administrators think that allowing teachers to talk is just
seen as a gripe session and while there may be some of that
usually teachers voice the issues that need to be
discussed.
My
professional ability to reflect effectively has been
strengthened because of my master’s program experience and I
realize more its importance as an educator. And not only am I
able to continuously reflect but to change in my instruction
and help change instructional practices at my school. This
section contains one section: Reflection on the Curriculum of Eminence Middle School.
