The  road I am traveling now would never been paved without a beginning. And it took a wake up call as I nodded on the road of life by God's horn to actually start this journey.

It was the spring of 2000 and I was finishing my third year of teaching. I was explaining to a colleague why I had not began my master’s degree as we stood in  the hallway of the convention center in Louisville. I had just finished conducting my workshop on the Paperless Classroom at KTLC. The Paperless Classroom was a project I had begun in my classroom using handheld computers. As one of the only schools in the country that was using Pocket PC handhelds in the classroom I was chosen to do workshops and a seminar at KTLC. This colleague had just attended my workshop and witnessed my passion for education and technology and thought that I might want to check on getting a masters degree in Instructional Technology.  Of course I was ignorant that such a degree even existed. And asked her what school offered the degree.  The first school she mentioned, even before UK or UL, was Georgetown College. It took her a while to convince me that such a degree existed at Georgetown. I thought she might be confused with UK or U of L. And she argued that she was pretty sure that Georgetown was one of the only or maybe the only school that offered such a degree in the state. I guess this information surprised me after all I was sure as an alumni of the school I would be more aware of its programs.

As a Georgetown undergraduate student I never planned that I would get my masters there. I thought that Georgetown College only offered a general education masters degree that would just meet the Rank II requirements. As an undergrad I did not understand the role of endorsements or concentrations in the graduate process. I thought that a master’s in education was a degree that no one outside of education would think was worthy. Yet as I stood in the hallway of the convention center the light came on and I finally had my answer to where I would go to get my masters, Georgetown College.
